Mad Hatter (Hatters Gonna Hate)

Heart Field was always a sweet girl. She had loved the color pink, had black beautiful wavy hair and fair skin. Until one day, her parents got in an accident. Her mother survived barely, but her father and older sister died. Her skin turned pale as she heard the news.

Eight years old and she wore full out black and white to match her pale skin. “Honey, it’s been a year. Please don’t continue this phase,” her mother said. “It’s not a phase. I loved them, and they’re gone. If I lost you too,” she said before crying.

Heart came home  from highschool, covered in a bruise. “What happened?” her mother asked. “I fell down the stairs,” she said. She didn’t bother to take off her grey shoes or black hoodie as she sat her book bag down and went to her room. She grabbed her skull headphones and MP3 player and listened to some music while reading a book.

Her mother peeked through her door and saw the depressed teenager. Heart always told her she had lots of friends, but she knew it wasn’t true.

Heart looked at her mother and put down her headphones. “Can I help you?” she asked. “I want to spend some time with you. I barely see you anymore,” her mother said. Heart groaned before taking off her headphones and walking into the kitchen.

“I’ll get the popcorn while you pick a movie,” she said. “Great!” her mother said, glad her daughter was out of her room. They watched a horror movie, and her mother noticed she was only emotional when they killed the dog.

“See ya. I have to get ready for bed,” Heart said before walking off. “I finally figured it out. She needs a man’s best friend,” her mother said.

Heart woke up the next day, and saw her mother in front of her with a smile. “What?” she asked. “Nothing,” she said, trying to hold her laughter and excitement.

Heart went to the kitchen and was shocked of what she saw. A German Shepard was in the middle of the floor and she walked over to it and dropped to her knees. She scratched behind its ear, waking it up as she laughed. “Hey there. What am I going to name you?” Heart asked. Her mother cried to seeing her smile, for the first time since her father’s and sister’s death.
