The Neighbor Walks at Midnight

I’ve lived in my house for over 8 years, and haven’t seen anything as strange as the new neighbor. When my new neighbor moved in right beside us, I thought it was a pleasure to FINALLY have someone moving in next to us! We live in a basically deserted county road near the border of Wisconsin and Illinois.

There was only one house near by on my road, and that was the house that had been empty for 7 years. When I had first moved, the first neighbors seemed nice, funny, and gentle. And then one night they just moved away. Leaving me lonely for 7 straight years.

Then finally, a new neighbor! I saw a guy drive up with a movers truck and start unpacking into the house. I was excited! But who knew how quickly that would end.

The first day he moved in, I’d thought I’d let him be, just to settle in for the night. So I didn’t bother him. I’ll just talk to him tomorrow. I thought.

That night I could not sleep, I was too over joyed that I finally had a new neighbor. I was still on the couch, at about midnight, I was reading a book.

My couch sits right by a huge window that you can see the main road on. I happened to look out the window, and I saw what looked like the neighbor walking back and forth on the road. I thought it was very strange. Why wasn’t he asleep? It was late and he just unpacked the entire day! It was odd that he kept walked back and forth. Then I saw he walk back up his driveway.

“That was odd,” I told myself.

I went back to reading my book. I only read about a page and then I felt as if someone was watching me. I looked up and my neighbor was standing a few feet away from my window. It was so dark, all he looked like was a shadowy figure. My heart started thumping a mile away. I scrambled to get up, I dropped my book, ran upstairs, and locked myself in my bedroom, and closed the curtains.

I eventually fell asleep around 4:00 am. But only slept for about 2 hours until I woke up again. It was hard to sleep. When I woke up I decided not to visit my neighbor. As much as I wanted to, I couldn’t after what had happened.

Later that day, at about 9:00 pm, I was watching the news. I started to hear some thumping on the porch. I looked out the big window but I couldn’t see anybody on the porch. So I went back to the couch and didn’t think much more about it.

I got up to go to the bathroom. I was only gone for about a minute. When I went back to the living room, there was muddy words written on the outside. Whoever it was, they wrote it perfectly backwards so I could read it. It said, I see your every move. And right next to it, it had a muddy hand print. After reading it, I immediately thought it was my neighbor.

I was very frustrated. Why was he doing this to me? What did I even do!? I was torn by him. In the morning I was going to do something about it.

I went upstairs and went to bed. I woke up at 5:00 am. I couldn’t get a very good sleep. I kept randomly waking up. The sun was peaking, giving just enough light to see outside.

After getting dressed, I went to the porch and washed the mud off the window. The neighbor got in his truck, and took off down the road. I gave him a rude glare. He didn’t seem to care.

I noticed he had left his garage door open. So I got curious. I went into the garage, and stupidly, he had left the door leading into his house from the garage unlocked. I went inside and I immediately smelt this nasty, rotting smell. I couldn’t stop coughing! I started to look around for the smell.

I went down the long hall, and the smell was coming from a bedroom. I quickly swung it open and shrieked! There was 3 dead women, skinned and cutt open, and dead. I had to catch my tears. He also had a dead dog laying dead on the floor right by the door. It was so sickening! I couldn’t bare to see it anymore! I took out my phone and snapped pictures, and ran out of the house. I went into my house and locked all of the doors, and immediately called the police.

The police arrived just in time when the guy got there. Two officers stayed with the guy and two went in the house. One of the officer’s came out yelled to arrest him! The guy let them put hand cuffs on him, and he looked right at me when I walked out onto my porch. He gave me this evil glare.

This night still haunts me. I still have nightmares. I moved out of that house a week later. I moved in with one of my friends. That face he gave me haunts my nightmares. I will never forget…

Interesting, but I would love to see a part 2, or a longer version of this one
