Shadows

It was around a year ago. I don’t remember what the date was, but I think it was around Halloween. My Grandma and Grandpa was gonna come over around 8:00 P.M. to bring some candy for me, my brother, and my parents.

Throughout the day, I kept hearing strange noises coming from outside. Before I thought it was gonna be a peaceful night, but it turns out it wasn’t. I had a strange vibe consuming me, but I thought nothing of it. I continued with the chores I was given. An hour later, I heard footsteps coming from the kitchen. For a second I thought it was my dog, Isabelle, or Riley. I looked in the room, and nothing was there. At that moment, I thought, “Am I being paranoid? Why are there noises every place I go?” Once again, I thought nothing of it.

Once it reached 7, the noises had grown louder since the past few hours. I thought someone was trying to break in. I went up to my mom and asked, “Mom, have you heard those noises too?” And she replied,

“No, what do you mean?”

I grunted and walked away to continue the last chore on my list. Finally, my grandparents have arrived. I gave them hugs, then told them about the noises. “It’s probably nothing,” said my grandma. My grandpa had a serious look on his face when I told him as well.

After we ate a few pieces of candy, my mom and dad went to bed while grandma went on Facebook to talk to some other people, and grandpa went to sleep on the couch. I laid on the other side of the couch near him, covered up in a blanket. All the candy made me feel a bit sick, so I went to sleep.

Suddenly, I woke up. My heart was pounding quickly, and a voice echoed in the room.

“There are shadows within these walls. They will come, they will rise. They will make sure you are dead.”

I stared at the ceiling, hoping the ‘person’ would leave. A few seconds later, I looked at the wall, spotting a shadow walking by. My heart pounded faster. I remember closing my eyes tightly, wishing I would go back to sleep. After a while, my heart calmed, and I remember waking up at 6:00 A.M. I wondered, “What happened last night? Who was that? Why did that happen?”

It was almost like a shadow was ACTUALLY trying to kill me.

To this day, I still have the same experiences, I wake up, get paralyzed, and then the demons show up. I actually got hurt once. And it all was because of the shadows

You switch a lot from past to present tense.

The best writers in the world use editors. No shame in having someone (or a couple of people) go through your stories before you publish them to catch any errors.

It just needed some more development and expansion. It would have been interesting to hear about when he got hurt and what happened. Keep writing!

    Very anti climatic.
