I’m Him and He is Me – Part 1

If there was a day I wanted to forget, today is that day.

It all started off as a normal day, nothing too exciting. I woke up at 6:30 am, had a shower, brushed my teeth, got dressed, and had my morning coffee. It was 7:35 am now. As a got in my car to go to work, I saw something in my rearview mirror.

It was me, but he looked different somehow and he was in my back seat. As I spun my head in shock and disbelief he wasn’t there or in my rearview mirror anymore. So I thought it was probably just my mind playing tricks on me and telling me I didn’t have enough coffee. That was by far the worst decision in my life. If I paid more attention to it, maybe I wouldn’t be here right now.

So I headed to work 5 minutes early as usual. It is now 7:55 am. As I punch in to work, I noticed that Samantha the receptionist wasn’t here yet which I thought was weird because she is usually here at 7:30 but she wasn’t. But at the time, I thought she probably called in sick. So I dropped it and didn’t pay anymore attention to it.

I went to my cubical to start filing my reports for this quarter to give to my boss by 9:00 am. It is now 8:34 am and I finished my reports a little early so I decide to get a coffee and hand reports in early too. I walk up to my bosses desk and drop them on it because she wasn’t at work yet. I go to get my coffee and socialize a bit but as I walk past a mirror, I notice the same figure that was in the car.

I jumped a little but as soon as I look back in the mirror it was gone. I again checked it up to take of coffee again and moved a bit faster to the break room to get a cup. As the coffee was brewing, I looked at my phone and saw the time and was in shock. It was 10:32 am and nobody was at work yet. I could have sworn it was 8:40 a minute ago so now I was visibly worried.

It was a Wednesday in the late morning and nobody was at work. I thought they where probably pulling a prank on me and I look around for cameras. Forgetting that I left my coffee brewing. And as I turn to go out of the break room, I hear a voice in a deep and threatening tune. It said, no it screamed, “Finally, it begins!” and see him no more than 5 feet away from me with a creepy smile, a bloody knife, and a pile of corpses behind him.
