667

You should probably read this in the daytime. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

It was the weekend, and most kids would agree that the weekend is the best time to have a sleepover with their friends. So that’s what Riley, Ava, and I did. At Riley’s house, we were watching TV, and since it was close to Halloween, we all decided it would be fun to watch a horror movie.

It was called 667, and it was about how a devil-like creature possessed humans to kill others. It came to a part where a child went crazy after being possessed and started singing, “Rain, rain go away, come again another day. The devil wants to play.” It seemed normal to Ava and I, but Riley started flipping out.

We calmed her down, told her it’s just a movie, but what she said was obscure.

She said that her little four-year-old sister, May, was singing the same thing in the middle of the night two days ago. Her parents were confused, but they assumed it was something she watched when she was using the tablet. We decided it was a good time to turn off the movie.

We played some board games, then had some pizza. We went to bed, forgetting what Riley had said. We didn’t sleep that easily, so we started talking about guys and junk, until we heard Riley’s little sister’s door open. We were nervous, because we thought her door was locked.

I decide to go and close the door, for some stupid reason. But out of nowhere, before I could close the door all the way, a small hand pops out to stop the door from closing any farther.

I run straight back to Riley’s room and hide under the blanket with Riley and Ava. We can hear May walking towards us. We peek out of the blanket to see May, who asks politely for a glass of water. Ava and I breathe a sigh of relief as Riley gets May some water. When she comes back from tucking May in, we all go to sleep.

The next morning, when Riley’s parents are back home, we get a knock at the door. It was the police, who said that there had been a murder next door. The parents talked the police for a bit, and the cops left.

They said that there were no fingerprints, or any clues that were found. Riley’s mother called our parents to pick Ava and I up, and all three of us went to check up on May. She seemed fine but we noticed her window was open.

Her window faced directly towards the murdered neighbor’s house.
