Nightmare

There was a nice cool windy breeze the trees the flowers and even the leafs were dancing in the wind. As in a rhythmic melody.

The stars dancing around the moon both lightening up the streets.

Sitting in my car with the windows down and the sunroof open with my eyes closed letting the wind take me away from reality, breathing in the cool fresh air. Listening to my heart beat and the wind blow and the leafs swaying back and forth in tune with each other. Then it started to rain…

I opened my eyes and shut all the windows… and watched as the rain hit the window shield and racing down as if competition. I said to myself screw it, took off my sandals and got out the car. Everything began to move slow. My breathing slowed, my heart slowed, the rain slowed.

My eyes followed a single rain drop to the cold hard ground, and watched it splattered. I felt the rain on my skin, felt it fall off my eye lashes every time I blinked. Sliding off my lips. I started to run until my feet bled… I ran and ran until I couldn’t anymore. I felt free… like I didn’t have a care in the world. When I snapped back in to reality, I found myself in the middle of the woods, out of breathe, heart pounding, going ‘boom… boom… boom…’

As if it’s about to fall out of my chest… while trying to catch my breath. I took a look around me. I’m soaked and wet and freezing. I see nothing but trees and darkness. I shouldn’t have kept running but it felt good to let go of everything… but the hairs on my neck stood up. My body froze when I heard a slight growl and twigs break.

I turned around and saw something coming. I turned and ran as fast as my body would let me I kept running trying every direction I could. I kept going and going not letting my body give up no matter how bad every bone in my body ached or how much I couldn’t breath. I looked back to see if it was still chasing me. I couldn’t see nothing. I slowed down a bit… before I knew it something came out in front of me and jumped At me. I jumped out of my sleep in a cold sweat… and let out a sigh of relief… it was only a dream.
