Keychain

Clank. Clank. Clank.

The woman looks in her purse. She can’t find her keys. Her front door is locked.

Clank. Clank. Clank.

“What is that noise?” She asks herself. She looks around to find the source of the noise. She can’t find it, yet she can still hear it.

Clank. Clank. Clank.

The woman finds the source. By the time she finds it, she already has a sharpened key stuck in her forehead. The source pulls the key out of her head, and then it unlocks the house’s front door.

Clank. Clank. Clank.

He’s off to find his next victim. This is the story of Keychain.

A long time ago, a legend speaks of a creature. The creature was tall. Its skin was grey. The arms, long and thin. The torso, built around the shoulders. The legs, long and thin.

The creature would go around to random people in one night. It would steal their key. It could be to their house. It could be to their car. It could be to their shed, the local church, or even the school. He stole the key.

The next time the person would attempt to unlock whatever that key belongs to, they couldn’t find the key. The creature would come find the person then. It had a distinctive sound.

Clank. Clank. Clank.

The victim would hear the sound. They would question what it is, most likely. When they would search for the source, the creature would stab the person with their key.

The only sighting from a living person said that the creature had a necklace. It was full of keys. Almost every key had blood on it. Next to each key, there was a bone. The survivor assumed that the creature took the bone from the victim.

One month later, the person who saw the creature died from unknown causes. There were no wounds. There was no sign of chemicals. There was nothing wrong.

Remember, always keep your key close. If you want to live, run when you hear it.

Clank. Clank. Clank.

I would suggest that you look behind you right now.
