The Wendigo

Dennis walked to school everyday with no issue. Well, until one day. Dennis was seen walking to school, but he never showed up. He also never went home. He was reported missing, but the police never found him. Dennis’ best friends, Stephen and Eleanor, we’re outraged that the police came back with nothing, so they decided to investigate themselves. Stephen kept a log of the events in his journal, which is disclosed here:

Today I searched for Dennis, and Eleanor is helping me. She is helping a lot, because she can make deductions in like, two seconds! I might even call her Sherlock!

Eleanor and I have been searching for 3 days now. We are making significant progress! I found a bloodstain near a sewer drain about four yards from the Bus Stop. Eleanor tells me this means we need to go into the sewer. Man, I really don’t wanna do that! The stench, the bugs, the poop! Disgusting! He probably isn’t even in the sewers anyway.

I am writing from the sewer. It really is disgusting. I also keep hearing footsteps, and expecting a monster to jump out. You know… now that I think about it, Eleanor is kinda cute. And incredibly smart. I’m getting off track. Anyway, we are seeing blood, but very little… hold on it’s getting bigger… oh my gosh now there’s a pool of blood! I hear screams… Oh my gosh I see bodies… BODIES. LIKE DEAD ONES. OH MY GOSH I’M GETTING OUTTA HERE. Okay so now I’m writing from back home. I was smart, and high-tailed it as soon as I could. Then I reported it to the police. However, Eleanor stayed. I sure hope she’s alright…

Okay, this is weird. The police found the bodies, but they were linked to another case. They didn’t find Eleanor though, so I’m going back in tomorrow.

February 7th, 2015

I’m in the sewer now, and I brought my Wrist Rocket. Now, I’m probably gonna be okay. I’m seeing the pool of blood, no bodies though, because they were taken by the police. I’m going a little bit farther… I see a… light… what the heck!? I hear Eleanor! She looks okay, except for the fact that her leg was… EATEN OFF!!!! OH MY GOSH!!!! She says it was a tall, skinny thing with sharp teeth and white eyes. I’m scared now. I called the ambulance… I hear shrieking! I’m heading over there now!

(This next part was written by Eleanor, who managed to get the book all bloody)

DEATH… DYING… DEATH… WENDIGO. I AM NOT SURE OF ANYTHING ANYMORE. I JUST SAW A DEMON WITH MY OWN EYES. I… I WILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN… WAIT… I… I THINK I AM DYING… DEATH… I’M DYING… AND I CAN ONLY THINK OF THAT WORD. DEATH. AND THAT… THAT THING’S NAME. IT CALLED ITSELF WENDIGO. IT WAS A HUMAN… BUT IT WAS SO DEFORMED… THAT YOU MIGHT JUST CALL IT A DEMON… STEPHEN WILL DIE. HE IS RUNNING INTO THE WENDIGO’S HIDEOUT… HE WILL FIND WHAT I FOUND… DENNIS’ HALF EATEN BODY… OH… OH GOSH… I WANT THAT THING TO DIE!!! OH NO… I CAN HEAR STEPHEN SCREAMING… I… I FEEL MY CONSCIOUS FADING–

(The Journal ends. Police arrived, and Eleanor survived. Stephen barely survived, and he managed to kill the beast as it was eating him.)
