The Hallway

O the hallway
So dark and long
O how to say
It just feels wrong
Doorways stretch down
Completely black
Something around
Waits to attack
Into the pitch
Slowly you tread
Nearing the switch
Sensing the dead
The house is cold
Much like a tomb
It must be old
Look at the rooms
You pass them all
Fast as you may
To the far wall
And are dismayed
The power’s out
Your stomach sinks
Someone calls your name
But you’re home alone
